A Practice Built by Family
HF Veterinary Services and Boarding Kennel is more than a family-owned business. It’s a family-built business.
Dr. Hufnagel’s children, Mary, Elizabeth, John, and Joe, all played a part in transforming the property from a wheat field into a cattle operation and, eventually, a veterinary practice. From clearing brush and building fences to painting, assembling cages, and mowing grass, the whole family pitched in to bring the vision to life.
That hands-on family involvement is part of who we are today. We welcome families, kids, first-time pet owners, lifelong ranchers, and everyone in between with the same personal, approachable care that helped build this practice from the ground up.
The Beginning
1991: A Career Dedicated to Animal Care
Dr. Hufnagel began practicing veterinary medicine in 1991 with a straightforward goal: help animals live healthier lives while providing honest guidance to their owners.
Over the years, he cared for everything from family pets to large livestock operations, earning the trust of countless families, farmers, ranchers, and hobby farm owners throughout Oklahoma. Those relationships became the foundation of his practice philosophy and remain one of the things he values most today.
Many clients have trusted Dr. Hufnagel with multiple generations of pets and livestock. That level of trust isn’t built overnight. It’s earned through years of showing up, providing reliable care, and treating people with respect.
A New Home for a Lifetime of Experience
2026: HF Veterinary Services & Boarding Kennel Opens
Opening HF Veterinary Services and Boarding Kennel marked the start of an exciting new chapter.
Located just north of Crescent, our new facility allows us to continue providing the services our community depends on while expanding our ability to care for pets, livestock, and hobby farm animals. While the building is new, the values behind it remain the same:
Our mixed-animal practice reflects the diverse community we serve. One client may visit for a puppy wellness exam, while another may need a farm call for cattle or reproductive services for livestock. We are proud to care for the full spectrum of animals that make life in Oklahoma unique.
Looking Toward the Future
2035: The Next Generation
One of the most exciting parts of the HF story is that it is still being written.
Dr. Hufnagel’s oldest son, John, is a senior in high school, and plans on going to veterinary school at Oklahoma State University. He does plan on joining our practice here at HF Veternary Services & Boarding Kennel.
What started as one veterinarian’s career is evolving into a multi-generational practice built to serve Oklahoma families for decades to come.
